Using modern technology
We have spent around $160,000 on CNC machines to ensure that we can deliver training that is aligned with industry. Here are some more pictures of our project assessments.
The students will also cook lunch in them once they are finished, this forms the final part of the assessment the TASTE test.
Students will need to achieve skills practice edges before they attempt this project, this will give them the skills needed to complete the project

ReplyDeleteYes the edges are welded and then polished, this student is going to put in an application for ACT apprentice of the year in 2013. We actually use them to cook as well. i will upload a movie so you can see.

i wish i could build some thing like that. i only have a mig weld, a suppose i would need a tig weld and a lot of training
DeleteThe polishing of the welds is a skill on its own and these projects take about 60 hrs to complete.
DeleteYeh the TIG process is the best way to do this... maybe come to australia for some profesional development

DeleteIt takes the apprentices about 60 hrs to fabricate one and thats using a CNC plasma cutting machine to cut out the parts. most of the time is spent on polishing the welds.

ReplyDeleteI was amazed that you can afford ,b y the school , to do such heavy investment, in Sweden in this kind of program schools try to cooperate with local industries to let the snudents get work place training. Where do you get your fonds form?
Our students are very lucky as they get this as part of there fees. Some times i do have students that are in the Stainless Steel industry and do the majority of their training on the job. Thats where we use the videos and picture evidence to keep as their practical assessment. they can also do the theory component online any where in the world, but they do have to be supervised for the theory assessment.

ReplyDeleteThey are males and ages range from 16 to 69 so there is a great variance. We have only had about three female complete this course since i have been teaching here in the past 13.5 years.
